Daughters of 1812 donate coupons to military families overseas

Mrs. Joe Ann McGee of Angier has received a Certificate of Appreciation and letter of thanks from the US Army in Germany. They provide individual and family services for over 50,000 Service Members, including their spouses and children. They are widely used by all branches of the military. With these donated coupons families are able to purchase food and necessary supplies through commissaries located on military installations. The Commissaries sell a variety of products including: food, hygiene items, pet supplies and cosmetics. The Commissaries in Europe will accept coupons up to six months after the expiration date. The letter stated that they are grateful for having people back home supporting and lifting up our military personnel as they stand ready to defend and protect our freedom.

Mrs. McGee is the State and Chapter Chairman of the Veteran's Rehabilitation Committee for the US Daughters of 1812. Members of her Chapter Committee who have devotedly cut over eight thousand manufacturer's since January. Members of the Committee are: Lynne Belvin and Charlotte Carrere, of Garner, Ann Locke, of Raleigh Elaine Creech of Cary and Mrs. McGee.

Mrs. McGee has also mailed nineteen thousand, five hundred stamps to paralyzed Veterans in Arizona, since January, for those who collect stamps and for craft projects.
